One of very few automobiles
built by Italy's Carrozzeria Ghia to be sold under their own name, the
Ghia 1500 GT was based upon a shortened Fiat 1500 C chassis with
independent coil spring front suspension and a leaf spring-mounted live
rear axle. Power came from a mildly tuned version of the Fiat’s engine,
mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Reportedly the 1500 GT was
capable of 110 mph, an impressive figure for a small sports car of the
period. It is believed that 846 Ghia 1500 GTs were produced from 1963 to
1967
