Stunning example of arguably the most capable and iconic 4x4 ever built. This 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser aka FJ40 was crafted by Toyota Motor Company LTD. in January of 1971. Lovingly painted the original sky blue color for authenticity. The interior is just as you would have seen it back in 1971 and is in excellent condition. All of the glass is in excellent condition. The OEM badges are in excellent condition.
The original Toyota F series 3.9 liter OHV inline 6 cylinder fires up and is eager to climb anywhere you ask it to go. The 3 speed transmission shifts on the column and is very easy to manage. The transfer case engages the front axle with ease and into low range with little effort. This little FJ has much more capability than most of us will ever ask of it. Both front doors shut and seal nicely with everything lining up like the craftsman in Japan intended. The rear doors work as they were designed. Swing the tire carrier out of the way, open the rear hatch then swing the small barn doors open.
Just 42,460 kilometers on the odometer (26,383 miles) which is believed to be true mileage.
Factory AM radio works and sounds just like it did back in 1971. Heater heats and blows great both to the floor and the defroster. Has the rare rear heat option as well. All gauges switches and lights work as they should. This FJ40 certainly is not without its flaws. The temp guage is inop and there are a few very minor scratches to be found. Many FJ40’s of this vintage were susceptible to rust, fortunately this one has survived unscathed with very little to no rust throughout.
