Rare, loaded, and beautiful restored 1979 Ford F250 Ranger XLT Lariat 4x4 Camper Special. This truck has just undergone a professional body-off-frame restoration, and looks absolutely gorgeous in factory Ford Medium Blue Metallic & Wimbledon White paint colors, with high-line Lariat trim option. To say that she’s a head-turner is the understatement of the year; this is a truck that is not easily forgotten.
The truck just received a professional cosmetic restoration inside and out, and is just about like new in appearance. The cab and bed were removed from the frames, the axles and engine removed, and the frame blasted and treated to a Zero-Rust rust-preventative finish. The axles were serviced with fresh oil, gaskets, and greased bearings, and re-installed on the chassis with a comprehensive new Rancho Suspension 4" lift kit... just the right amount of lift to put the truck in pre-1978 High Boy territory. The kit includes new front springs, new rear springs (not a block lift), new shocks at all four corners, a matching steering stabilizer, drop Pitman arm spacer, extended brake lines, extended Camper Special front and rear sway bar links, etc.
The wiring harness was removed from the cab prior to restoration, and properly sorted out before being installed again. With cleaned and proper grounds and new ends as needed, there aren't any mystery electrical issues to chase down. Everything has been sorted, and all works as it should: headlights (including low and high beams), marker lamps, running lights, turn signals, flashers, reverse lights, brake lights, horn, courtesy lights, heater (new heater core), heater fan, windshield wipers, gauges, and the Air Conditioning system. The factory tilt column has been rebuilt including a new turn signal cam assembly. The brake system has been rebuilt including a new booster and master cylinder, new front pads, new stainless-steel extended soft lines, new rear shoes, etc. True power steering makes the truck a pleasure to drive, even for the ladies.
The front and rear bumpers, brackets, and hardware are new and beautiful. While many nice-looking classic Fords run around on some sort of generic aftermarket wheels, this baby rolls on ultra-rare factory 16.5” x 9.75” steel wheels, freshly powder-coated matching Wimbledon White and mounted with Goodyear Wrangler M/T 37" tires. What a look! The Ranger XLT "racetrack" side trim is as nice as I've ever seen short of new. The grill insert is NOS Ford, as is the grill surround... I've had them for decades and saved them for something special; this is it! The side marker lenses, headlamps, tail lamp lenses, bulbs, etc. are new and look it.
We pulled the weak original 400M and installed a low-mile 1973 460 4v. The engine was fully detailed when out of the vehicle, and looks like new. The water pump, fuel pump, belts, hoses, alternator, starter relay, and battery are all new, as is the AC-specific heater core. The original 4v carburetor was just rebuilt, the engine fully tuned, fluids and filters serviced, etc. Same with the transmission and transfer case. The new exhaust features dual 40" glass pack mufflers and sounds amazing. The truck is turn-key.
