1958 Caballero wagons are very rare with only approximately 4,000 units built in ’58. How many exist today? Its anyone’s guess, but I would bet less than 1,000 cars remain. ’58 was a tough year for Buick, sales were down, therefore less cars were produced, making ‘58’s more difficult to find and restore. Its pretty tough to compare, but I think these cars had more chrome and stainless trim than just about any car ever produced. Their a GM masterpiece of style and elegance. With their low production numbers, styling and history ’58 Buicks are highly collectable and difficult to obtain. Wagons are also a piece of Americana that represent families going on road trips and spending quality time together………. This car represents both. A 1958 Buick Caballero is a special car indeed.
This car is a factory red car with black and white interior. The exterior is professionally refinished with straight lines and quality paint work. The trim is nicely restored with little, if any blemishes. All the chrome plating has been beautifully refinished to a high level. The glass is mostly original and is free of cracks or chips. Overall, the exterior is very nice. The wire spoke wheels with whitewall 235/75 R 15 radial tires complete the fantastic look of this car.
The interior is nicely restored using correct materials throughout. The seats, door panels, carpet and headliner are all professionally trimmed. The dash is impressive with all its chrome and design. Gauges are crisp, dash pad is soft, and the steering wheel is beautiful with no cracks.
Under the hood is correct with the 364ci “Nail Head” V-8 and automatic transmission. Power steering and power brakes for good drivability. The engine compartment is nicely detailed and shows no evidence of leaks or issues of any kind. This car runs and drives great.
