1978 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 450SL 4.5L V8 Engine

The body on the car is in very good condition and was extremely well maintained. The paint on the car is great and has had one repaint in the factory color of Brilliant Silver and is in very nice condition and looks almost as good as the day in rolled off the lot. The car has been completely inspected underneath from front to back and is totally solid. We do believe there's a small spot of surface corrosion where the hardtop meets the chrome trim piece but is extremely minimal. This is typical as moisture is known for getting caught between the hardtop seal and the trim. The car is riding on gorgeous FRESHLY POLISHED OEM Bundt wheels and Michelin performance radials. All chrome trim, glass, and rubber seals are in great shape. The black soft top is in great condition, and has only a very small rip. The silver hard top has good seals and the headliner is in awesome shape.
Mechanically, this SL runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. The V8 engine is surprisingly quick and responsive. Many Mercedes experts and mechanics stand behind the 4.5L as the best engine Mercedes ever made. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily available. The suspension is very tight and feels solid even at autobahn speeds above 90mph. This car was dealer serviced up until 75k miles. The previous family also took great care of the car and fixed or replaced the belts, hoses, power steering seals, AC service, control arm bushings, steering components,valve cover gaskets, brake flush, and transmission pan gasket I also had it into my local Mercedes independent and he checked it over and gave it the big thumbs up! Just had a full 100k Service including all new plugs, wires, fluids, and a fuel system service.
