Front brakes were upgraded to 10" Wilwood slotted and drilled rotors and TWO sets of DUAL piston calipers on each wheel! Now this car will stop on a dime!
Rear brakes are original factory drum brakes.
Radiator was replaced with a modern 4-core aluminum unit after the photos were taken.
Suspension: The shocks and several other things were replaced with beefier parts to make it ride and handle better.
Transmission: The original Powerglide was replaced with a new Turbo 400 auto transmission. *The little indicator selector piece of clear plastic on the steering column still reflects the original 2-speed and you may want to change that out.
Wheels: After upgrading the front brakes, the original wheels would not clear the new calipers so I replaced them with five new Oasis 22" wheels. They looked a bit like the old Cragar wheels from the 60s, I thought. To get the old 14" wheels back on one would have to revert back to the old drum style brakes I'm afraid. There may be many other wheels that would fit. I really don't know. Right now the car sits only 1" taller than it did when new.
