I had the engine, transmission and differential rebuilt to mostly stock specifications. I had all new brakes installed including calipers, rotors, master cylinder and brake lines. I removed the radiator and had it flushed and replaced the heater core which had a small leak. It now runs and drives fantastic and never passes the center mark on the temp gauge, even in 80 degree weather. I also installed a new fuel tank but saved the original if the buyer wants it. Most front and rear bushings were replaced while the drivetrain was out. all new hoses and belts were installed using correct GM Reproduction hoses and clamps.
The engine is the correct 942 block with a casting date of November 30, 1965. I can't be positive it is original to the car as the numbers on the block stamp pad had been ground off during a previous rebuild or possibly it was a replacement block. In any case the November 30, 1965 casting date seems about right for the January 1966 build date of the car. It did have transistor ignition, the imprint of the amplifier unit can be seen on the radiator support. It is now fitted with a Pertronix electronic ignition inside the distributor which works great and can't be seen. There are currently high temperature plug wires installed as the header side pipes make a lot of heat and I thought they could melt the stock style wires. It has the correct Holley 3647 dual feed 4 barrel carb on the original 3885069 aluminum high rise intake manifold. On the recommendation of my rebuilder I installed a LS6 cam and had the heads slightly ported to drop the compression a bit for better driveability on premium pump gas
