Frame-off restoration
White exterior with black LeBaron Bonney mohair interior
221 CID 21-stud Flathead V-8 engine with electric cooling fan and 12-volt charging system
Three-speed sliding-mesh manual transmission and 4.11 gearing
Wire wheels, cowl lights, dual horns, dual sideview mirrors and rear coach doors
Seldom-seen Potters trunk plus spare tire, wheel
112-inch wheelbase
Under the hood is Ford’s venerable Flathead V-8. Here it is the 221 CID version with 21 studs. It is married to a three-speed, sliding-mesh manual transmission and backed with a 4.11:1 rear end.
Inside, the black cloth interior is the perfect complement to the exterior. The front and rear bench seats are in overall excellent order, as is the neutral headliner and the two-spoke, black steering wheel. The inner door panels are in similar order, as is the white metal instrument panel with an array of Classic Instruments. A floor-mounted shifter completes the interior.
The 1934 Ford (the Model 40B) was not as substantial a model year change as the previous two years had been. Noticeable changes included a flatter grille with a wider surround and fewer bars, straight hood louvers, two handles on each side of the hood, smaller head lights and cowl lamps, and a reworked logo. The bare metal dash insert was replaced by painted steel.
V‑8 output was again increased and there were 14 body options, the Tudor being top-seller. Deluxes had pinstriping, again twin (chromed) horns and twin back lights. Inside, they got more elaborate wood graining.
