This 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible is an American icon with a classic style, V8 power, and some cool upgrades. So dig into the details on a drop-top legend that's priced within reach.

Springtime Yellow is the factory-correct color. It was already quite bright, but this example benefits from a more recent respray that really gives it a nice glow. Of course, the reason why this all looks so good is that the panels are straight and the gaps are good. So you have great body lines that highlight why the first-gen Mustang is an icon. Plus, all the iconic brightwork elements are in place, such as the correct grille with the running pony emblem, 289 badges on the fenders, three-element taillights, and the wraparound chrome bumpers. This even has the rear luggage rack - a stylish but seldom-seen feature. And there's a nice touch of added polish from the classic American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. The overall impression is a thoughtful car with a driver-quality style... and that makes for a thoughtful cruiser. Even the white walls go well with the cream-white convertible top.

With the flip of a switch, the cream-colored roof powers down to reveal a cream-colored upholstery. There are also tasteful black accents on the newer dash pad, classic grippy steering wheel, and plush carpeting. Mustang fans will get excited to see the rare front bench seat option. The trim tag tells us this was not from the factory, but you don't have to pay us extra to keep it a secret. Some more upgrades are easy to spot, like the AM/FM/CD stereo and color-matched convertible boot. Others are worthwhile fundamentals that you don't always see, like the new floor pans. And there are additional cool extras or even more potential. The Rally Pac is in place if you would like to get the tach full working, and the components to re-install air conditioning also come with the sale.

This is a C-code car, so it's nice to have a proper 289 cubic-inch V8. The engine bay has a very stock style, including an attractive blue glow from the air grabber and valve covers. We also like these motors because they are a hardy powerplant that's easy to upgrade and downright fun to tune. A classic like this is built to feel the road, but you still have nice cruiser features, like automatic transmission, power steering, and an updated front sway bar.
