This is a genuine 1969 Ford Torino Cobra. The Cobra was actually a new model for 1969, separate from the Torino (and Fairlane) with a unique VIN designation of “46”. While there are plenty of fakes out there, this one is a real-deal Q-code 428 Cobra Jet car as shown in the Marti report.
The business end of this Cobra is found under the hood. The original motor has been replaced with a performance FE big block featuring aluminum rocker arms, an aluminum intake manifold, solid state ignition, and Holley 750cfm carburetor. This is a very stout motor that will spin the tires with ease. You will also find a set of headers and a recently replaced radiator. The transmission is a C6 automatic with a 2,500 rpm torque converter, while the rear end is a newly-rebuilt 9” with 3.70 gears. This Cobra was factory equipped with power steering and power front disc brakes which operate perfectly. It all makes for fun and easy driving of such a big, powerful car.
The black vinyl interior is very spacious and quite comfortable. It retains a factory appearance except for the B&M floor shifter. The front bucket seats and carpeting have all been redone. The 4-pod dashboard includes an optional tachometer that works properly (many of these old Ford units do not). There is also a modern 2-shaft digital radio with a vintage look. The headlights, turn signals, backup lights, dash lights, and courtesy lights all work properly. So do the horn, wipers, parking brake, and heater / defroster.
