Body
Older repaint in black. Looks very shiny, and is a 10-footer. I believe it’s a single stage paint, probably decades old. I think it’s a factory yellow car, as there are a couple places under the hood where the paint is chipped and you can see yellow. There is no visible rust on the body and the car is very straight down the body panels. There are dings on the car on several panels The paint is cracking in a few places. The paint is chipped in a few places. Basically, it looks good going down the road, but if you want a show car, you’ll need to fix some small dents on a few panels and repaint it.
Underside
The front floor pans were replaced with sturdy steel panels at some point. I don’t see any significant rust under the car. There are a couple of the rocker panel mounting brackets that were removed and not added back on. Those will need to be re-added. It looks like the rocker panels were patched underneath. Basically, it doesn’t look pretty, but it seems solid. Trunk pan looks good.
Interior
The interior was re-done. I don’t know when, but it looks very nice now. I think they re-did the carpet, door panels and seat covers when they did the interior work. Headliner has some spotting. I haven’t tried to clean that. Original steering wheel. All windows roll up and down very well. Driver’s side front window is new and the glass was re-secured to the channel.
Engine and transmission / mechanical
I had the car inspected when I bought it, and my mechanic confirmed it’s an early 1970s 350 engine. The transmission is a Muncie 4-speed, per previous owner. I drove the car almost two hours in the freezing cold at night when I bought it to get it back to my home. Half of the trip was interstate cruising, and it did very well. It starts right up immediately. The transmission shifts strong, and the clutch is strong. The car brakes as it should. The engine seems tired to me in terms of how it sounds, but you listen to the video and decide for yourself. It kind of pings, which might mean that it needs timing adjustment or it doesn't like the ethanol gas. I think it accelerates and drives well, but I’m not a 350 expert. The heater blower and parts have been removed and it's blocked off on the firewall. I think it comes with the parts you need to put it back together, but not 100% positive. The wiper arms and motor have also been removed. Comes with wiper arms. Not sure about wiper motor. No ugly leaks from the car that I've noticed. Tires rub on sharp turns in back. Might need less wide tires in the future.
