If you're looking for your chance to own one of the all-time great British sports cars while it's still affordable... this may be your chance. Hagerty price guides show a sizeable increase in TR6 prices over the last couple years, and it seems this classic roadster is finally getting the attention it deserves. You get a straight 6, a crisp shifting manual transmission, and more headroom than everyone else on the road around you. On a sunny day, you'd be hard pressed to find a more desirable car to be in when you drop the top and play that naturally aspirated soundtrack! Anyway, there are plenty of good books on Triumph's history... so let's talk about this particular TR. This car had been sitting for a few years, but was in remarkable shape when purchased. The tires were stripped off to make way for new Good Years (with a 2020 date code, spare included). The paint was in good shape but faded, so the car received a professional base/clear respray in the same color. The steel in the chassis is straight with no rot. The all-metal rockers are excellent and not patched. The doors, tops of the fenders, headlight buckets, tail of the car, floors, inner rockers... are all in great shape with no rust. Because of this, there was no need to pull the engine or separate the body from chassis. The previous owner had the car restored, and it was done to a high standard. While it did create more work, the fact that the paint was faded means that any rust issues would have been obvious--in the form of bubbling or flaking off metal. There were no such signs, so the respray was just to bring the gloss back and will protect the car for decades to come. The interior also held up well from the previous restoration, and needed only a good cleaning. The seats are still firm, with good support and no awkward twisting. The carpets aren't beaten up, and the panels don't show any signs of wear either. The gauges all read correctly, and you'll find good oil pressure, properly balanced carburetors, no overheating or hot running, a smooth idle, and even a heater that works in the winter! The normal TR6 issues that come up frequently in the online forums are all absent in this car.
