This 1958 Buick Special Riviera Estate Wagon is a unique and luxurious 50s cruiser and one of the nicest station wagons of the era. 1958 was a significant year for Buick with regards to the exterior styling of its vehicles–gone were the "Venti-Ports" on the front fenders of any Buick for the first time since 1948. Edward Ragsdale, who was the General Manager of Buick at the time, characterized the new-look Buicks as "dazzling." Based on the sales brochures from the '58 Buick lines, it is clear that Buick's designers took much inspiration from the aviation craze of the day. From nose to tail, the 1958 Buicks were, like many other General Motors products that year, loaded with stainless steel and chrome!
