This 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 b Cabriolet D was the factory show car for the 1955 Toronto National Motor Show. It is 1 of only 59 Cabriolet D's built in 1955. A 3 owner car from new, it is believed to be the chauffeured driven car used by the German Consulate in New York when the First Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Konrad Adenauer visited New York. This is how it obtained its nickname, "The Adenauer". It was then owned by an affluent lady who owned & lovingly cared for the car for 57 years, until her death last year at age 91.The current owner welcomed this special Mercedes into his collection and took it to a renowned Rolls Royce specialist. It has undergone a complete mechanical restoration, from the motor being fully flushed & gone through, the cooling system, the braking system with all new hoses, wheels cylinders etc, the fuel system, the carburetors, clutch, transmission, the electric ride control suspension - everything has been gone through and brought to the mechanical integrity that makes it a very reliable, enjoyable car that will bring years of enjoyment at Concours rallies and other touring events.
