49 Cadillac Sedanette, Series 62 aka fastback. I inherited this vehicle from my father who recently passed unexpectedly, so have limited direct knowledge
Car is drivable but needs a small tune up and some minor electrical work to be roadworthy. It can be best described as a resto-mod. My dad was a Cadi guy through and through so knew what he was doing with this one but unfortunately wasn't able to bring it across the finish line.
Drivetrain/mechanical-Converted to 12V-Chevy 350 4 Bolt Main (3,000 Miles on Rebuild)-Chevy 350 3 Speed Powerglide- Brawler Carb (unsure of CFM)- Electronic Ignition- Sanderson (?) Headers- (2) Borla Mufflers- Aluminum Radiator + Flex-A-lite Electric fan w Aux switch-EZ Wiring harness- MT Valve covers- Power Steering and front disk brakes. I believe this to be a mustang II front end but I am not certain.- Brakes recently serviced (booster and valves) but needs adjustment.- New Coker whitewall radials.- Hub Caps (2) Need install- KYB shocksBody-Rust Free California Car. -Milage is unknown and odometer has rolled over (68 miles currently) -Roof is masterfully metallic rose leaf'd, lowrider style. Subtle and you have to be up close and in the sun to see the detail but its really well done. I believe the paint is two-stage. -Lower half of body needs to be repainted black. I think the quarters were damaged when it was shipped to him. They've since been straightened but are primed and need final coats. -Most of the chrome and trim appears to be here either stored or on the vehicle. Some he's even had rechromed. -Glass is mostly good for the exception of the drivers side which has a spider crack coming from the corner. -Needs trunk latch or strike hardware adjusted (believe its all there). -Needs license plate bracket installed (for sure have that). -Needs passenger side rear tail light(not sure that we have this). -Driver side door handle only works from outside and passenger door is missing interior handle. -Door locks need repairing. -Two window cranks are missing, I have one ready to be installed.InteriorMost of the interior appears to be complete and original. Cloth seats are in good condition, and so is the carpet. Needs some odds and ends buttoned up but overall good. We have new weather stripping purchased for the vehicle as well.Other notesHe has a "kill switch" rigged up to a secondary ignition so you require two keys to start the car, I think he used this for security. It can be kind of finicky and hasn't cranked for me a couple of times. I think it's likely related to the second ignition. I think it needs either the timing to be adjusted or the carbs to be cleaned, misses in mid RPM range. Fires right up and idles with a couple pumps of the gas pedal. Doesn't blow any smoke. Car drives pretty well for its age, and turns great with the power steering. Cruised at ~65 down the highway for 30 mins without any big issues (missed a little). Brakes definitely need to be adjusted though, one side is grabbing more than the other and seemed like it wanted to lock up after getting warm driving through city.
