1979 Volkswagen Beetle Classic 39248 Miles
The 1979 Volkswagen Beetle Epilogue was a special edition built to commemorate the very first Volkswagen Beetle prototype. In early summer of 1979 each VW dealer received an Epilogue model. Convertible production sended in 1979, so this was really the final swan song for this model.
The Beetle was purchased in 1999 with just over 31,000 original miles(showing now just over 37,000)and was treated to a professional restoration using all NOS parts. Included with the Beetle is a large book of receipts documenting the work that was performed and also the parts that were used.
The car was restored using only factory NOS German parts. Most of these German convertible parts have been obsolete for years and are very difficult to find. All aftermarket parts that were installed on the car were removed during the restoration process and the correct parts were installed.
This is an all numbers matching car as documented in a letter from Volkswagen AF Historical Records division in Germany. The restoration is 100% unmodified stock and no expense was spared in order to achieve quality and factory correctness.
The engine is a complete NOS rebuilt fuel injection engine done to VW factory specifications. Original German NOS included the installation of original factory German Kolbenschmidt positions and cylinders. All internal engine and fuel injection system components were replaced with factory NOS or refurbished. The original engine tin was cleaned, sandblasted, and the repainted. The transmission was removed, serviced and cleaned. New transmission mounts and CV boots were installed. A new clutch and TO bearing were installed and the original flywheel was resurfaced.
