1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback 9884 Miles
Admit it: if you were going to build a cool Mustang Fastback, it would be like this fully restored and dialed-in 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2. With updated 347 Stroker V8 power, a quick-shifting 5-speed gearbox, choice options like power steering and disc brakes, a comfortable interior, and an attention-grabbing Rangoon Red paint job punched up with white stripes, it's everything great about an early Pony, but with the volume turned up to '11'. Although it was a late arrival to the pony car party, the 2+2 became the most iconic symbol of Mustang performance in pretty short order. Familiar fastbacks started dominating at racetracks around the world, and even street cars like this bright red and white-striped example were respected and admired by almost everyone. With a nice-looking older repaint in the original Code J Rangoon Red and a set of bright White stripes, this fastback still looks great and proves that class never goes out of style. The LeMans-style stripes that run down the center of the body are always fan favorites, instantly bringing some guy named Shelby to mind, and they were painted on to POP out against the red finish and elevate the car's curb appeal. White rocker decals were added as well, and they, too, spice up the profiles, and although this isn't some record-breaking, show-quality finish, it looks amazing when cruising down Main Street. Sure, there are some imperfections to note, and the car's been driven and enjoyed in the 5-6 years since it was repainted, so it's also picked up a couple of nicks and chips. However, a professional cut-and-buff would easily remedy most complaints, and even without one, this Pony still looks great. As it sits, it's still a local car show stunner with straight lines, even gaps, and a very nice shine. Because they didn't add an obnoxious hood or silly badges that purport something other than what this fastback is, this period-perfect Ford will always look great. The bright driver-quality finish emphasizes the car's performance aspects and gives it a performance look, especially with the familiar pillar louvers and the streamlined profile of the roofline.
