1966 Chevrolet Impala SS 396 Super Sport 84756 Miles
A real-deal 1966 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport is a wonderful thing. It only gets better when this has the right details to give a shining hardtop presentation to showcase numbers-matching features like the big block and four-speed. There's even terrific paperwork that comes with this coupe. So it makes for a true classic that's truly fun to show and drive. The Chateau Slate paint is factory correct, but it benefits from a more modern professional respray so that this Impala continues to look like a proper premium Chevy. The panels align nicely; the trim is bright and complete; and all the essential Super Sport badging is in place. Plus, the chrome is terrific. The wide chrome grille up front is like an extension of the mirror-like bumper. And in the rear, the bumper has a snug fit as it integrates into the sheet metal. It makes for a very correct-looking car, and the only upgrade you'll likely spot is the set of 15-inch US Mags alloys. Sure, you can source factory wheels pretty easily, but we like the way these bring distinction to this sleek hardtop while still harmonizing with the color theme. The black interior looks great against the silver exterior, and the trim tag tells us this was born this way. Not only does this have the correct factory colors, but also there is a ton of vintage appeal inside. You see it in the way the door panels have button details that coordinate with the upholstery. The AM radio is still there for a display. And the full interior light package greets you when the doors open. And more than just appearance, there are plenty of comforts, too. A Super Sport of this era means bucket seats and a center console. So while there's plenty of room in the back for family and friends, you'll always be riding in individual comfort. In fact, the driver gets the best treats as you slip behind the factory wheel with Impala center cap and gaze over the speedometer that's as wide as the horizon. Even the details prove this is a true driver's machine - including the floor shifter and very handy factory tach. And there's cold-blowing air conditioning so that you can roll down all the windows on this hardtop and cruiser around comfortably even in the summer. Open the hood to reveal the numbers-matching 396 cubic-inch V8. It keeps a very stock look with plenty of bright Chevy orange radiating from within the dark engine bay. And the way this fires up and runs tells you this classic has been under proper care. The big block inhales deeply with a four-barrel carburetor, and the newer dual exhaust helps give it a dignified V8 tune. Overall, this one is meant to be a terrific driver. The original Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission gives you full control over the big block power. And as you look at the undercarriage photos, you'll see investments in places like front bushings, shocks, and springs to keep this a solid cruiser. Add in power steering, power brakes, and front discs, and you soon understand how much you'll enjoy driving this coupe.
