1965 Pontiac Le Mans nicely restored 74276 Miles
This is a nicely restored example of a car that lets you know what it truly was like to drive a 1965 Pontiac LeMans back in the day. The car has a clean but honest time capsule feeling, right down to the working AM radio. The stacked headlights and imposing body lines instantly remind us why the GTOs were directly related to the LeMans. This even has the distinct Pontiac Rally wheels and redline tires. But this car doesn't try to be a pavement-pounder like the GTO. Instead, it reminds us of what it was like to cruise an upper-level LeMans back in the day. This one has been resorted to remind us what dad bought to look cool in the suburbs. For example, the factory-correct Mayfair Maize is that ideal 1960s color. It's a modern respray, and so the clearcoat luster only adds to your nostalgia. The crisp lines, big chrome bumper, bright full window trim, and overall personality has the distinction of a true cruiser. The parchment interior has a harmonizing style against the exterior. And this one really goes for more of that back-in-the-day kind of feel. It comes from the slight glow of the fresh upholstery, the plush feel of the new carpeting, the clean/smooth dash, and the unmistakable grippy feel of the classically thin steering wheel. And you'll appreciate the details, right down to the working dome light and Pontiac arrowhead in the seatbacks. The idea here is about being dad's cruiser. So he wasn't trying to be the boulevard horsepower king or the craziest paint at the carhop. Instead, the options he wanted were the few extras that made his daily drive more fun. Items like front bucket seats and an AM radio were the kind of things he could brag to the neighbors and make his commute more comfortable. Under the hood is the 215 cubic-inch inline-six. It looks exceptionally clean and fresh, which makes it fun to showcase. And this is a unique motor to have considering it was only offered for a couple of years. We're told this engine was rebuilt less than 200 miles ago, and it fires up and runs with the kind of eagerness of a fresh investment. Part of the experience of being a true classic is the way this one wants you to feel the road. But with the Super Turbine 300 two-speed automatic transmission and fresh suspension components, this also has a nice confidence for when you want an authentic cruiser.
