1957 Ford Fairlane 500 312ci Thunderbird Y Block V8 starts and runs very well
1957 Ford Fairlane 500
"Looks like a million ... makes you feel like a million!"The 1957 Ford was very successful, being the best selling car in America that year, overtaking arch rival Chevrolet for the first time since 1935! Certainly one of the best looking cars of the mid-1950s and always popular with the hot rod crowd back then with the big 312 Thunderbird engine option. This car has all of the classic styling of the 1950s with lots of chrome, trim, a dash that looks like it could belong in an airplane, and of course those amazing tail fins! What a great time period for automobiles! Here we have a beautiful Fairlane 500 that has been well loved by its past owners. It has been serviced well through the years and has never needed a full restoration, however, some things have been done and improved through the years. The next owner could take it to the level or just simply enjoy it how it is! This would be a very nice car for all your cruise night events, local car shows, or just own/drive for fun. This car will be a treasure for your family to own for years to come and a great investment too.Features:· Original sticker price: $2,380.00· Engine: 312ci “Thunderbird” Y-Block V8 (4 BBL, 245 HP)· Transmission: Ford-O-Matic (3 speed automatic)· Dual Exhaust · Electrical System: 12 volts · Production Figure for this model: 39,843· Wheelbase: 118.0 inches· Fuel economy: 14-18 mpg· Weight: 3,542 lbs.· Overall Length: 207.7 inches· Top Speed – 110 MPH· 0-60 Time – 9.4 seconds· ¼ Mile – 16.9 secondsWhat is believed to be the original 312 D-Code Thunderbird Y-Block V8 starts and runs very well, idles smooth, sounds fantastic, and makes very good power! The transmission shifts and operates well at all speeds. Working gauges and lights. Overall good condition. FYI - If you would like A/C added, it can be done for the next owner (please feel free to contact me for details and pricing).Just a beautiful looking car both inside and out. You can tell that this Fairlane has been in a good climate all of its life and has been garage kept. Some of the chrome and stainless is original, and in very good condition, while others have been re-chromed/restored as needed. It has a VERY nice original dash, steering wheel/horn ring, knobs and controls (as you can see in the photos). The interior in general is quite nice for the age of the car and has beautiful upholstery. Engine bay and trunk are both clean, tidy, and detailed. While this is not a "high level" show car, it is a great looking car that you should be proud to take to all your events and drive for fun. May even win a trophy from time to time!
