1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe 383 CID V8 Automatic
This is a 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe that I built some 25 years ago. After getting it running I'm afraid that I got lazy because I never completed some of the things that I planned on having on this car. I have a new Vintage Air and Heat that I never installed as well as cruise control. The car as of 2008 has a Chevrolet 383 stroker motor that has 450 hp, a 9" Ford posi rear end with 3.0 gears, power steering which I finally added about 6 years ago, 11" disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on the rear. It has stainless bumpers, chrome torq thrust five spoke wheels, 16" x 8" on the rear and 15" x 5 1/2" on the front. It has Classic Instruments gauges, complete stainless exhaust with Borla mufflers. This was virtually a rust free car, doors, rocker panels, floors, everything when I got it, no patch panels ever other than the under the deck lid panel which I replaced, everything else was exceptional including the drip rails that usually rust off on these cars. As you can see the door handles and latches, which are original, are not worn in the slightest way, they work like new. Every piece of stainless trim is original. The engine drips a drop of oil now and then, might be the valve covers or intake or both, I don't think it's anything serious, and the 350 turbo does too. The transmission has had a slight leak since day one. I've had the engine and transmission out a couple of times and replaced the transmission front seal each time but it never did make a difference. The power is exceptional, I'd drive the car anywhere. The car isn't perfect but runs and drives perfect, meaning probably not in the same class as a Coddington car but really, really nice.
