1970 Plymouth Cuda conversion to A833 23 spline 4speed car
This AAR Cuda’ started life as a Red on Red column shift automatic car and when restored the owner did a complete conversion to a correct A833 23 spline four-speed car. As the story goes this car lost its original drivetrain and fender tags back in the 1980’s and then was used as a parts car to build another 1970 Cuda as many were back in those days. The car was purchased by the owner that restored the car in the early 1990’s because it was a nearly rust free 1970 Red on Red AAR Cuda. Missing the drivetrain, Fender Tags, interior, glass, bumpers, wiring, ect. the owner took the liberty to build the car as a 4 speed. Though it was missing a lot, unbelievably it did retain all of the AAR’s original sheetmetal. The car needed front floor pans and the center of the trunk pan otherwise the car is all original metal. They did some minor repairs behind the rear wheels but it was patched and welded in properly. This car was restored in 2013 but never fully assembled because the PO passed away and the car sat dormant needing final assembly until 2019/2020 when the nephew bought the car and quickly got it together to sell. The Red interior is new front to rear top to bottom with the exception of the 4 speed console and Pistol Grip shift lever. Everything is reproduction and new at the time of restoration. New windshield and correct new glass all around. I was told the entire Dashboard was sent out to a company as a complete assembly and rebuilt as a complete assembly. This car was built to be a driver and to stand tall next to any other fully restored car at any event anywhere, and it will. This AAR has had 25-30 miles of shake down on it and no more. The engine was completely rebuilt to stock specs but is a late 1971 date 340 with J heads, big valves, springs and roller rockers. The engine fires first turn of the key, the 6 BBL set up works well but should have the center carb rebuilt to work 100%. T/A correct exhaust manifolds on drivers and passenger side (heat riser service kit included) and a full Correct New Reproduction Exhaust System. This AAR has sat for a long time dormant and as such will need some fine tuning to be a good reliable driver. Needs Alignment and Break Booster rebuilt but it does drive out fine, shifts good and it does stop well. This is your opportunity to own a very well restored and beautifully detailed 1970 AAR 4 speed car at a fraction of what correct car of this caliber will bring and this car will NEVER LOOSE value. A good weekend tuning and what a Show Stopping Driver it will be!!!
