1970 Plymouth Barracuda AAR CUDA 340 Six Pack Incredible Restoration
Available today is an incredibly restored 1970 Ivy Green Plymouth AAR Cuda. Upwards of $300k was invested into the restoration of this beauty and the results are clear (see pictures). There are receipts to support the restoration. The owner tells me that this is the finest restored vehicle that he has ever seen and he is a third generation auto restorer and collector. Car was restored in 2008 and has only been driven approx. 1001 +/- miles since. Presents extremely well today (see my personal notes below). This car does not have it's #'s matching motor. According to the original owner, whom I'm in touch with, the car was delivered in 1970 with a ticking sound. In 1974, prior to the warranty running out, the block was replaced with a correct T/A replacement block. Color code: F8 - Ivy GreenTrim Grade/Style/Color - H6F8H = High6 = Vinyl Bucket SeatsF8 = Green.
The AAR—(for All American Racers)—was the product of collaboration between Plymouth and Dan Gurney to mount a factory entry in the SCCA’s Trans American Sedan Championship Series and capitalize on his legendary status in their marketing efforts. Unlike most Chrysler muscle aimed at the drag-racing enthusiast, the AAR was built to handle the curves with heavy-duty suspension, front and rear sway bars, power front disc brakes and Rallye wheels with Goodyear Polyglas tires. With its 340 six barrel engine, scooped fiberglass fresh-air hood, chromed side exhaust, strobe graphics and raked stance, the AAR Cuda was also a legitimate street fighter.Sold new at Whipple Chrysler Plymouth this rotisserie-restored AAR represents an investment of $300,000, and it shows in every spectacular detail. Its Ivy green metallic paint and green vinyl interior are a rare and refreshing pairing. Even the engine bay and undercarriage benefitted from astounding detailing and authenticity, i.e. details as plated surfaces, hoses, clamps, labels and markings. In addition to the 340/290 HP six pack engine, this jewel-like Cuda is equipped with the D21 4-speed manual transmission with Hurst pistol grip shifter, 3.55:1 Sure Grip differential, remote driver’s mirror, bucket seats, console and Music Master AM radio. Documentation includes the factory broadcast sheet and window sticker.Personal Notes:I had the pleasure of viewing, photographing and videotaping this classic Cuda. I was told by the owner that the restoration was the best that he had ever seen. Based on my viewing, his comment was an under estimation. The car was simply put - STUNNING. From the engine bay, to the interior, to the trunk, to the underside, the car was simply incredible and as close to without flaw as I have ever seen and that's saying a lot considering that the car is 47 years old. The restoration company should be applauded for their efforts and the previous owner should be congratulated for financing and undertaking such an ambitious project. My hat is off to this wonderful classic car.If this classic Mopar is on your automotive "bucket list", don't hesitate on this one.
