1979 Toyota Pickup Limited Edition 20R Orange 4WD
The paint in the engine bay and the interior is still original. The Land Cruiser shop beautifully painted the exterior of the vehicle in the original color code 336. We used very high quality single stage acrylic paint, they replaced the white lettering and the stainless steel cap on the tailgate. The body panels are super straight and the door and hood gaps are excellent. The original chrome looks great too. We cleaned the underside of the rig and painted some areas but didn’t overly restore the underside. All of the fluids were changed, Mobile one 80w90 was used in the axles, transmission and T case. Mobile one, 10w30 in the engine. All of the hydronic fluids were flushed. The brakes are excellent, the AC is ice cold, all of the electronics work as they should (Tachometer sticks sometimes). We just replaced the battery with a Toyota battery and a new Toyota clutch master cylinder. All of the hoses and belts are in great condition as well. The engine has aftermarket headers and a complete exhaust in excellent condition. The result of this work is that the vehicle is very reliable, comfortable, runs great and is a true piece of Toyota history. It is remarkably original, comes with really cool literature and vehicle sales history. It easily travels at 70 mph on the highway. The tires are taller than they would have been, but that helps with the highway speed (rubber overdrive) and I believe aesthetics. The tires are new 33x10.5x15 B.F.Goodrich all terrains mounted on factory FJ40 wheels painted in Cygnus white just as it would have been with new OEM hubcaps too. Some of the other non stock items are headers, floor mats, stainless steel tailgate cap, upholstery was replaced with high quality vinyl by a professional with the OEM look. The suspension is a 2.5” lift (OME?) with new shocks. I’ve owned this vehicle for about six years and driven it about 1000 miles. It has 71508 miles on it now.
