1962 Chevrolet Corvette Base Automatic Vortec 350
Previous owner owned this car for 39 years. Mechanically sound with strong Vortec 350 crate engine with less than 10,000 miles on it, backed up by a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Engine casting number is 10243880. The 1960s George Barris inspired style paint is forty-five years. The paint features shading in sections from metallic gold on the front of the car to metallic maroon on the rear and varies from fair to poor, as would be expected. Chrome is better than average driver quality, including the door and windshield posts. Windshield and side glasses are clear with no chips or scratches. Interior dash pad is in very good condition. All stainless trim is present and in very good condition. The matching factory hard top is in incredible condition and complete; only very slight crazing of the rear plexiglass. All gauges are functional except for the Amp meter, which needs to be changed to a volt meter now that the car is equipped with an alternator, and the cable driven tach that needs converting to electronic compatible with the Vortec crate motor's electronic ignition. Rear fenders were flared slightly back in the 1960s and one flare has a chip out of it (see photos). Car needs a matching set of wheels and tires. Older interior door and kick panels have obviously been custom made and are serviceable. Grab bar is worn and could be easily replaced. Typical 50-year old undercarriage surface rust. Body appears to be "no hit" as no repair areas have been found.
This car today is a solid driver with all the important bits and pieces in place, and, except for the paint, in better than average driver condition. Drive it as it is, or do a full or partial restoration, your choice.
