1970 Mercury Cougar Very Rare Original Condition XR7
Very rare, nearly 100%, original condition XR7 M-Code Cougar. This car was 1 of only 108 with the sought after (1970) 351C 4V. This is the only year made with the factory 4 barrel intake, and the higher 11:1 compression ratio and cylinder heads with huge 2.19/1.71-inch valves. This engine mandated dual exhaust and calls for a minimum of 99 octane or higher. This M-Code Cat also has the very rare close ratio 4 speed. Less then 3% of all cougars built had a factory 4 speed!
You only have original once and here you have original drivetrain, body, paint, glass, interior and vinyl roof! Almost every part is original with exception of normal wear and tear consumable items such as; tires, tune up parts, fluids, thermostat, some hoses, fuel pump and power steering.
She has less then 53000 original miles. You will not find another like her. A dry south west New Mexico car its whole life. The original owner ordered a "sleeper" with No AC, No power brakes, and originally No power steering (less then 10% of all cougars were ordered without power steering) it was added by 3nd owner who owned a ford dealership.
The car has factory 10" drum brakes that work perfectly. It has the factory Competition Suspension package that only the "M" code cougar or its big brother "the 428 CJ Eliminator" would have as options. The car starts right up on choke with one tap of the gas pedal. It drives very well, steers great, brakes perfect, No pulling or swaying. The car is a BLAST to drive, puts a smile on your face even after you get out.
